If these photos don’t make you smile…

May 19th, 2008 by Treena Shapiro

…then it must really be Monday.

ABC News posted a slideshow called “Animal Kingdom’s Odd Couples” filled with cute pic goodness like this:

– From abcnews.go.com: “Dema, a 26-day-old male endangered Sumatran tiger cub, cuddles up to 5-month-old female orangutan Irma at the Taman Safari Indonesia Animal Hospital, on Feb. 26, 2007 in Cisarua, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia. Irma and another orangutan were rejected by their mothers while two Sumatran tiger cubs, including Dema, also born in the hospital, were also rejected by their mother, Cicis, and are being looked after by staff at the Animal Hospital. That one is my favorite, but all 10 are “awwww” inducing. If you didn’t click the link above, I promise clicking here is worth it.

Wow! Cool, make-you-smile stuff indeed! Thanks!

I’s no coincidence, of course, that most of these photos are of very young animals. Just like humans, the young often have no concept of those they’re “supposed to be” enemies with.

It would be interesting if ABC, or someone, tracked these to see if they keep up their friendships. A full-grown Sumatran tiger buds with an adult orangutan? We’ll see. :-)

Why can’t people be like that and ignore all the differences? You know what? Only as kids we see each other with blinds on.

    Ho da cuuute!!

Kids in Hawaii start out just like that.
We grow up with kids from all kine different ethnic backgrounds in school from small keed time and end up forming lasting friendships.
And by understanding each other’s culture, indirectly through association, no mo any preconceptions and can get along just fine.

We can make fun/jokes of the different ethnicities here cause we UNDERSTAND each other.
Not too much nowdays tho. Too much PC-ness and uptight-ness. *sigh*
