First concert: Owl City

November 17th, 2009 by Treena Shapiro

I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not, but because "Fireflies" is my daughter's favorite song (beating out the best of Radio Disney), I figured she might want to see Owl City and Mae at Pipeline Cafe Nov. 28.

I've been thrilled ever since my daughter told me just how fabulous "Fireflies" was. I hadn't really paid attention to the song, but after having to listen to it repeatedly ever since, I definitely prefer it over any of the music my daughter normally listens to (Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez are fine... in small doses).

I've so embraced her evolving tastes that, even though she's 6 and doesn't particularly like loud noises, I couldn't resist buying tickets for both of us, as well as her 13-year-old brother. If it goes badly, at least Owl City should play first.

  1. Tammy:

We all love Fireflies, me, the 27 year olds, the 11 year olds, the 9 and 7 year old. I have to admit, though, after the 100th time in a day, it gets a little old! Please post us a review, as I would love to take them if Owl City comes to Portland.

Tammy, I agree. There can be too much of a good thing. But compared to what my daughter usually makes me listen to, "Fireflies" is one of the best. I'll let you know how the concert is. Hopefully the kids will last through Mae.
